Nadia Rosângela and her family were out walking in their hometown of Inhuma, Brazil, in early December when they came across an unusual sight in the city square Nativity Scene. There was a tiny puppy sleeping soundly in the manger!
Rosângela and her husband had taken their son to see the Nativity scene display, which was nearing completion. “A puppy was sleeping in the manger when we went to see the nativity scene.” “A very beautiful image,” she told the Brazilian news channel [translation] Cidadeverde.com.
“She was sound asleep the entire time.” Other people arrived, took pictures, talked, and [the puppy] slept soundly.” Despite the attention, the puppy did not open her eyes and continued to sleep.
Rosângela was so moved by the touching scene that she took her own photos and posted them on social media, pleading for help for the stray puppy. “I imagined how Jesus Christ is present in so many things, in so many creatures, in so many beings,” she said of seeing the puppy in the manger. “That puppy was Jesus making himself known to me.”
Rosângela did not bring the puppy home because her family already has three dogs and twelve adopted cats! Fortunately, her plea for assistance drew a lot of attention, and several people showed up wanting to adopt the puppy. As it turned out, one of Rosângela’s friends discovered the puppy and took her home. The puppy’s fate in the crib is unknown, but she was most likely abandoned by someone in the city.
“I feel happy and at peace knowing she’s safe,” Rosângella said of the sweet puppy’s rescue later. “I adore animals and wish the same for all of them.”
