Jax is a huge fish in a small pond, a gorgeous black dog with a narrow white stripe on his chest.
Jax, who lives in the little village of Portree on the Scottish island of Skye, is well-known for his crucial job in a run-down post office run by his human, Ray Chandler.
The happy-go-lucky dog, you see, has a very precise job title: he’s the Official Stamp Licker at the post office! He’s even got his own sign:
In a piece by The Dodo, Chandler remarked, “Jax really adores it.” “He’ll literally lick your stamps,” says the narrator.
Every day, customers anticipate seeing the puppy, who cheerfully greets them and assists them with their packages. He’s so eager about his job that he licks stamps a little too hard — and it shows.
This occasional mishap, according to Chandler, indicates that stamp-licking services are provided at the “customer’s risk.”
Most people, on the other hand, are willing to overlook any of the eager dog’s genuine errors… after all, he only wants to assist! Despite his amusing gaffes, the sociable pooch is an expert in the field of customer service.
Chandler noted in the tale, “He’s excellent to have around because he becomes the center point.” “Everyone in Britain talks about the weather, but everyone at the office wants to speak about Jax.
Some folks only want to say hello or bring him a treat, while others want to hug him. He’s developed into quite a character.”
Jax spends a lot of time outside, including swimming and walks with his parents, in addition to following his father to work every day. After all, Chandler told The Dodo, “He’s a member of our family.”
We might be more likely to turn off the computer and mail a letter if there were more canine employees at post offices!
