The Irish Priest’s song moved the audience to tears, and Simon declared it one of his “favorite ever auditions.”

After Father Ray Kelly took the stage and sang R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts,” tears flowed. When the Irish priest walks onto the stage for the first time, the judges inquire as to why he chose to audition.

He expresses his desire to be the first “singing priest” to win Britain’s Got Talent. In terms of his song selection, he explains that it is one to which he can relate, especially given his line of work.

When he’s finished, there’s a brief silence before the audience rises to their feet and erupts in thunderous applause.

To say his singing ability is “God-given” is an understatement. Click play to see why he received a standing ovation.
