UCLA gymnast Katelyn Ohashi was rated #2 in the United States going into the 2018 Pac 12 Championships, but she was motivated to win when she came onto the floor to do her routine.
Just before she takes the stage, the commentators remind everyone that, despite her several perfect 10s on the college circuit, she’ll need to score a 9.6 or higher to win.
Katelyn begins to tumble, flip, and whirl on the mat as Michael Jackson’s song plays. Her teammates are cheering her on and monitoring her every move, and the audience goes crazy when she ends her routine with a stunning dive into splits.
The entire UCLA gymnastics team rushes onto the floor to give Katelyn hugs as soon as she finishes her performance. And what happened when the judges announced her 9.950 score? Of course, the audience erupts in applause once more.
In the video below, you can see Katelyn’s winning routine.
