His young Newfoundland dog learns to swim thanks to his father.

Newfoundland dogs are known for being strong swimmers and have long been utilized as water rescue dogs. They’re powerful enough to tow individuals and boats to safety! Water rescue tests and certifications are even available to help improve and preserve the breed’s water abilities.

When it comes to swimming, though, one-year-old Boss has a long way to go. Swimming does not appear to be a natural skill for the 170-pound Newfie, as he sinks in the water. So, swimming lessons were in order.

Dad is holding him up in the video while he practices paddling! But it appears he isn’t aware that he should also use his back legs! Boss, keep practicing. We’re confident you’ll be able to swim like a pro in no time!
