An excavator rescues a baby deer trapped in mud.

Bill Davis was inspecting a plot of land he was working on in Tacoma, Washington, after receiving a tip about a possible intruder. He was surprised to find “two baby black tail deer stuck in some deep mud!” when he went to check on his equipment.

Bill and his coworker, Rod, couldn’t stand it any longer when they saw the animals struggling, so they used the excavator to free them. Bill captured the rescue of one of the deer, who was completely submerged in the sludgy mud and unable to move.

Rod uses the excavator to gently scoop away the mud in order to free the deer from her muddy trap. And at 2:11, when Bill says, “Try to pick her up, Rod,” I was on the edge of my seat!

He carefully scoops up the deer and places her on the ground. What a hero! The deer appears perplexed at first, but she soon gets back on her feet and returns to the woods. Bill says near the end that they’ll be freeing her brother or sister next!

Outstanding work, Rod! Please share this tense animal rescue with your friends!
