Adorable Baby Water Buffalo Licks His Rooster Pal

Tundra the water buffalo enjoys keeping his feathered friend clean while nibbling on a small snack. Tundra gives a rooster named Roo a couple of licks on the head in this adorable video from the Barnyard Sanctuary in Columbia, New Jersey.

When you consider that Roo just finished eating and made a bit of a mess, the strange behavior makes sense.

“Our water buffalo, Tundra, was licking the head of our rooster, Roo,” the animal sanctuary writes. Tundra was cleaning off the chicken food that had gotten stuck on Roo’s head after he had eaten it. “It was caught on video by one of our volunteers and one of our employees.”

Roo, surprisingly, doesn’t seem to mind and stands patiently while his friend cleans him.

Watch the video below to see the adorable exchange.

It is not the first time that unexpected friendships between barnyard animals have been captured on video, such as when a chicken used a horse’s head as a roost.
