Mario Sciorrotta was walking her daycare children near a park when they began excitedly pointing to a passing police officer. Mario instructed them to wave to him, which drew his attention as he drove by.
Officer Aaron Swenson of the West Des Moines Police Department pulled over and immediately asked them a question. “Would you like to know something?” Nobody has petted my dog in a long time. “Would you like to pet him?” he inquires. He went to his vehicle and returned with K-9 Aro, who immediately greeted all of the children. It was a hit with everyone, including Aro!
That is what I mean by community-oriented policing!
