In the cold environment of Abruzzo in southern Italy, a dog narrowly dodged a pack of ravenous wolves.
Local Paolo Forconi took the terrifying footage, which shows the golden retriever off in the distance surrounded by three s.c.a.r.y wolves.
The unfortunate dog has been cornered by the wolves. Between a barbed wire fence and the wolves on higher land, he is stuck.
The dog dashes along the fence, the wolves trailing behind him, in a desperate fight for s.u.r.v.i.v.a.l. One of the wolves managed to bite his rear leg twice.
However, just as the wolves appear to be closing in on the dog, he suddenly escapes through a hole in the fence. The wolves come to a halt, unable to keep up with them.
The dog, who is most likely a livestock guardian or other ranch working dog, is extremely f.o.r.t.u.n.a.t.e.
Wolf sightings used to be uncommon in the area, according to Forconi. However, in recent years, the hungry animals have been drawn to the local cattle and pets.
