A 19-year-old waitress was injured when she rushed off a pier to save a stuck little child.

People like Hana Bignato, a 19-year-old who proved that not all heroes wear hats, make the world a better place.

Hannah worked at Joe’s Crab Shack in Daytona Beach, Florida, during the night shift.

Hanna recalls hearing a woman scream for help from the beach below as night falls, as well as the voices of others screaming through the chaos.

A frantic mother screamed, her young son in the midst of a full-fledged meltdown. When Hanna looked down from the sidewalk, she noticed that no one was attempting to save the boy.

“I heard the mother’s screams and tears. I was terrified just hearing her scream. Then I noticed the little boy… Hanna Benatto told the Daytona Beach News Journal, “His head kept hanging down.”

Hannah, a skilled swimmer and surfer, believed she could save him and couldn’t stand looking at such people. She threw off her shoes and leapt off the sidewalk without hesitation. Unfortunately, something terrible happened to her while she was scuba diving. Hanna was hit by a sandbank and fractured her right foot and back, according to Wish. Despite the excruciating pain, she continued to swim towards the boy.

“I didn’t want the kid to die,” says the narrator. Hanna claimed he wasn’t a child, claiming he was between the ages of 7 and 8, but I mean, that’s human life – you can’t look at that and not be distracted.”

The next thing I knew, she was on the beach with a stranger who was trying to calm her down. See how his heroic story unfolded in the video below.

Hana does not have health insurance and will be bedridden for the next two months.

Meanwhile, her family has set up a Go.Fund.Me page to help with her medical bills while she is unemployed.

People are praising Hanna for what she’s done because not everyone is willing to put their own life on the line to save the life of someone else. Her family is extremely proud of her accomplishments. Her mother, it must be said, raised her well.

Heather Benato said, “She kept saying, ‘I’m sorry, don’t get mad at me,’ and I was like, ‘Hannah, I was trying to save someone.”
